This is the weekend we have been waiting months for! A Day out with Thomas the Tank Engine!!! Saturday after nap time, we packed up the car and headed to St. Louis to see Thomas. Actually, we were staying overnight since our train ride on Thomas was early on Sunday.
The hotel room was, well, nasty. I mean NOTHING like the pictures showed. It was dirty, uncomfortable sleeping, and just not up to my standards. Long story short, Marriott came through for us. After I expressed concern to the manager, he went to his manager who emailed me today. After a detailed explanation of our concerns, he completely refunded the cost of our room and gave us an additional 5,000 points on our Marriott rewards! I was pleasantly surprised and most pleased!!!
Sunday we got up bright and early (no thanks to all of the alarms in the room that went off at 3:00 a.m.!!!) and headed to Granite City to see Thomas. The weather was unseasonably cool, but it was definitely tolerable. When we got there, however, we couldn't believe how low class this event was - certainly not worth driving three hours to see. Even my sweetie Sean wasn't impressed.
The train ride was okay, but the scenery was so-so. At least what we could see. The windows on the train looked like someone had taken a Brillo pad to them, so the view was very limited. The other "activities" were very small town fair (and by small town, I mean town of five.) The one cool part was that there was an area to buy pretty much anything Thomas you could ask for! We got an ornament, duffel bag, night light (which is SO cool), toothbrush which plays the Thomas theme song for two minutes (which is how long you are supposed to brush), a BIG Thomas book, "Tupperware", etc. That was definitely a cool part of the day.
Here are a few pictures from the day... check out the super cool Thomas made of legos!!!
